Program Year 2010 - 2011
Following are the outcomes (and outputs) Pinebrook achieved in program year 2010 – 2011.
Agency-Wide
- Of the 2,113 children, young adults and adults served in all programs, 75% received behavioral health services; adoption services accounted for 5%; 11% were served in placement services; and, other community-based services accounted for 9%. Individuals may be served in more than one program during the course of a year.
- 99.6% of the children, young adults and adults served throughout all agency programs were free from accidental injuries.
Of the better than 2,100 individuals served in all programs, 1 required passive physical restraint to prevent harm to themselves or others for an overall rate of 99.95% restraint free. Effective July 1, 2010, Pinebrook adopted a restraint-free policy; in order to assure the safety and dignity of both clients and staff, Behavior Support and Management (BSM) Plans are developed for all clients.
Behavioral Health Services
- The behavioral health program served a total of 1,571 children, young adults, and families; 64.1% received outpatient mental health services; 14.6% received family-based mental health services; 3.6% took part in the Functional Family Therapy program; and, 17.7% took part in the High Fidelity Wraparound initiative.
- 86% (32) of children participating in the Family-based Mental Health program were able to be maintained in their own homes throughout the program.
- 88% of families participating in the Family-based Mental Health program were able to maintain or improve their parental capabilities, family interactions, environment, and overall family safety via this team-based, intensive treatment intervention and support service.
- 100% of the families and youth who participated in the Functional Family Therapy program (FFT) were very satisfied with the services they received. 75% of the youth exhibited improved social functioning; 100% of the youth successfully completing the program were drug and alcohol-free.
- 100% of the Families and youth participating in the High Fidelity Wraparound initiative were very satisfied with the services they received. 100% of families were able to maintain or improve their parental capabilities, family interactions, environment, and overall family safety via the intensive, team-based, client driven initiative. To date, eight youth have successfully graduated from High Fidelity Wraparound and are working and/or attending school or college.
Placement Services
- 99% of children in foster and kinship care were placed in two or fewer resource homes; 84% of children were placed in one resource home. 98.5% of children in placement at Pinebrook for less than 12 months had no more than two placements; 91% of these children were placed in one resource home.
- 58% of foster and kinship children were reunified with their biological families or were adopted; 6% transitioned from foster care to independent living; and, an additional 14% left Pinebrook programs for pre-adoptive placements, to rejoin siblings in placement elsewhere or to relocate closer to their families of origin; 15% went to other destinations; the remaining 7%, 6 children, were discharged to residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization or group homes.
- 100% of children discharged from foster care were able to achieve at least some of their Individual Service Plan goals prior to leaving Pinebrook; 81% achieved all or most of their goals.
- School-aged foster children attended classes at least 96% of the time and achieved at or above ability level 86% of the time. Children in need of additional/tutorial services were referred to their school districts.
- 100% of children discharged from foster care to adoption left care in less than 24 months from the date of coming into care.
Adoption Services
- Ninety-three families received SWAN pre-and post-placement services through Pinebrook’s Adoption program. In addition, Pinebrook has helped 16 International adoptive families to prepare for adoption.
- 100% of children and families who received post-placement, post-permanency services through Pinebrook’s Adoption program remained intact with no children experiencing a disruption in their adoption.
- 101 children received various adoption related services through Pinebrook’s Adoption program. Of these 101 children, 69 child profiles were completed, 57 children participated in child preparation services, 11 children were provided with specialized recruitment services; and, fourteen children were welcomed into their forever families.
- Of the 14 children who achieved permanency through adoption this year, there were three sibling groups.
Other Community-Based Services
- Of the 30 adults served by the Agency's Together Families program, a research-based child abuse/neglect prevention curriculum, 87% demonstrated improved attitudes toward parenting and childrearing; 67% demonstrated improved knowledge of appropriate parent-child interactions; 100% will likely practice the information taught; and, 100% found the information taught useful.
- 100% of Making the Grade, truancy-reduction program participants were very satisfied with the program and would recommend it to friends. 70% of the middle school students in the program significantly increased their school attendance.
- The Transportation and Visitation Program provided service to 138 Lehigh and Northampton county families via transportation, supervised visitation and therapeutic intervention for families and their children who are in out-of-home placement settings. TVP staff covered a total of 171,622 miles.
